    I guess it's kind of sad to hear that they have the best Tex-Mex and margaritas in town (which is what some people claim about this place; I strongly disagree). Either Baton Rouge has really crappy food and drink options (which I just don't believe), or people aren't being candid enough about their experiences. I have all sorts of problems with this place... Everything about the food here is sub-par or average. The chips are bland tasting and not the crispy, fresh, light and thin variety you would expect from a place that makes its own chips (do they even do this, or is it an urban myth?). The chicken dishes taste weird because they don't cook the chicken correctly. Cubed chicken isn't supposed to taste juicy. It should be flavorful and not dry, but definitely not juicy. Regarding the ambiance, their decor looks like a Chili's thrift shop, with a bunch of flat screen tv's added in. I can see why a bunch of business people might enjoy meeting up here after work. It's probably one of the few places that has a weirder environment than their actual workplace, so maybe it throws people off enough to forget about work. And get drunk. Maybe most importantly, you shouldn't walk out an average place like Superior Grill feeling like you didn't get what you paid for. When they charge you and another person $31 for two chicken taco plates and a couple of glasses of water, that's exactly the way I felt. Also, when you ask the waiter about a charge discrepancy on your bill in a polite way, you shouldn't expect the manager to rush over to the table, ask you what you're talking about in an accusatory tone, and to then rush off yelling, "I'll go get a menu and show you!" It turns out that they charge an extra $3 for a plate of tacos if you switch the beef for chicken; it's really hard to tell on the menu, because they call chicken tacos "fajita tacos." (???). Anyways, it would have been begrudgingly ok if they hadn't handled our inquiry in such a rude manner. So, all in all, I say screw this place. For the price, you can find a much better restaurant, with better ambiance, prices, food and service. If you're looking for authentic Mexican food, you'll also want to find somewhere else to eat. I won't be returning for another meal here.

    By far the best Tex-Mex in Baton Rouge so far. Great cood, great atmosphere, and great service. I will definitely go back to this place. Everything we had at our table was great and the flavors were authentic. We had some Guacamole, cheeses dip, and chips and salsa. I had the Superior Enchiladas and they are awesome. Will definitely be back here again!

    Great Happy Hour with half off margaritas, good chips and salsa, but the food quality and the service is MUCH better in New Orleans. Plus there are much better Mexican restaurants in Baton Rouge. The fajitas come with this weird butter sauce on top which is WAY too much, and the portions are small compared to what you are paying. HOWEVER - they do have a great burger. Juicy, all the necessary optional condiments such as bacon, avocado, and cheese. I'm not sure if its the seasoning or the fact that it's cooked on the same grill as their fajitas (minus the weird butter sauce), for a Mexican restaurant or any other restaurant, the burger ranks pretty high on my list.

    Superior Grill is an interesting place. It's pretty much exactly the same as it was when it opened. The atmosphere is great, and the fajitas are good (especially the jumbo shrimp). This place can definitely get a bit rowdy. Thursday nights and Friday nights here can be insanely packed. They often have live music and lots of people come here to party. I honestly avoid these days like the plague, but it might be fun if you're into that sort of thing. I absolutely hate margaritas and Mexican beer, so I don't really have an opinion on how great the margaritas supposedly are, but people love them. Apparently if you like margaritas this here is your dig. My biggest complaints about Superior Grill is that the wait can be long and the prices are a bit high. It is a cool place to come and eat though.

    I love this place. My wife and i had dinner there last night. Being from Texas we love good Tex Mex. i had their beef fajitas and they were really ggod and tender. The pricing is a little high compared to other places but the food was good. The service was a bit un caring but perhaps our waiter was just having a bad day. Any way i recommend this place for good Mexican food in Baton Rouge

    This is the best Mexican food Baton Rouge has to offer. By comparison, we spent several years in Southern California, and there were plenty of really good authentic Mexican restaurants there. There is NO plasticy American cheese on the food here! I think the best thing on the menu is the Chile Relleno, and it's phenomenal! No place I've eaten here or anywhere between here and California has one that approaches Superior's.

    This is the one of the best Mexican restaurants in Baton Rouge ! Not just because of the food, but for the atmosphere and service. The menu is pretty standard Mexican. But what makes Superior stand out are the seafood entrees. When you order shrimp fajitas or shrimp enchiladas you won't end up with just a handful of scrawny shrimps. All of the seafood and fish is very fresh and you get a generous helping. Speaking of enchiladas, I'd say that's the must get on the menu. I tried the tacos, tamales, and tostadas. All are very good, but the enchiladas stand out because of their flavor. There are several different kinds of sauces and all the choices are loaded with an amazing cheese that melts so smooth it becomes almost like a sauce. The tortilla chips are made in house, which you can tell from their crispiness and light flavor. The salsa is pretty good, but I wish there was a spicier option. I asked for a spicier sauce to put on my food and they said no they don't carry any! :( If you come for the lunch it's a pretty laid back crowd. But the restaurant gets packed at night. I'd say it's a great place just about any crowd( kids, date, friends). However, I wouldn't bring the kids too late though because there's live music and drink specials.. and with that can come a few drunks!

    Overrated. The food has so much extra sauce it all runs into each other. There isn't that Mexican flavor I usually get when I eat at a Mexican restaurant. I don't know why the locals here make such a big deal about it.

    If it's great Mexican food that you're looking for, don't come here. The atmosphere is wonderful. The live music in the evenings (Thursday-Saturday) is phenomenal, especially on Thursdays. The food is mediocre. Is it edible yes, but it's an American version of Mexican food. The margaritas however are. Their prices are going up so if you don't want to kill your wallet on just one drink get there for happy hour between 4:30 and 6:30 and try one. For great Mexican food try Mestizo's or Ninfa's. Also, if you have plans to go somewhere important after dinner, choose another restaurant. You'll leave here smelling like grilled oni

    First off let me say that when it comes to Tex-Mex food I am jaded having eaten some of the best Tex-Mex cross the state of Texas. This place has an authentic feel to it from the moment I drove in the parking lot, in to the front door and all the way to our seats. One of the first things I use to judge a Tex-Mex place is by the chips and salsa - crispy chips and salsa with a nice spicy bite. So far so good! I ordered the pork tamale, cheese enchilada with rice and beans. The tamale was outstanding and it was stuffed full with shredded pork. The cheese enchilada was bland without the semblance of cheese. In addition the sauce that was put on the enchilada also bland and tasted like it was poured out of a tin can. My niece was also not overly impressed with her meal as she too was raised on some if the best Tex-Mex. If you need a Tex-Mex fix this place will suffice but otherwise do not think that this is what great Tex-Mex is all about.

    One of my favorite places in Baton Rouge. It's a bit pricey but well worth it. They have a large variety of Mexican food that appeals to many different people. The atmosphere is great here and the food is just as good. They have great chips and salsa and it's a fun place on Thursday nights. One of the top Mexican restaurants in town.

    My first experience with Superior Grill was in Shreveport, so I was excited to try Superior Grill in Baton Rouge when I was lost down on Government one day. I have tried this restaurant a couple of times, and each time I still find myself a little disappointed. The food is never really bad, it just isn't particularly good. I went with a friend last night, and I guess I wasn't too disappointed with the Chicken Quesadilla. It was good, but for what I paid, it should have been twice the size. The real reason to go to Superior is the margarita. They are delicious, but be warned that they are a bit strong. So, while I enjoy a nice, strong margarita, I also advocate driving safely. The service is typically slow, and I have never figured out why. Even when it is dead, it still takes forever to get your drinks and food. The wait-staff is friendly, but maybe they are always short-staffed. Overall, I would just go if you enjoy a good margarita and have a designated driver, or time to be sure you are safe to drive.

    This place is to Mexican what Olive Garden is to Italian. If you can see past that, it's pretty damn good. The margaritas are STRONG. Like, make sure you have transportation lined up, don't make any plans for the rest of the day-strong. The first time I came here, after one margarita I was wondering why the hell I was suddenly thinking that I was stuck in the middle of the cast of Game of Thrones. I swear to God I thought I was hanging with the Lancasters and the Starks. The margaritas will do that to you. You will see things. Which probably explains why they serve them in a Styrofoam cup. Less chance of injury. Their steak fajitas are amazing. I'm not sure what they do to get skirt steak that tender. I actually probably don't want to know. And they grill the fajitas on mesquite, so the meat takes on this really smoky flavor. Pro tip: This place gets crazy busy, especially on the weekends. We've never had to wait for a table though - we just go sit at the bar for a few minutes and wait for something to open up. Usually does in no more than 5 minutes, which beats the 45 minutes to an hour you'd wait for the dining room.

    2 words: Crazy Javier!!! This is what I always order when I stop in...This was my first visit to the Baton Rouge location. I usually eat at the Shreveport, LA location and like it better but I was talked into stopping in for lunch at the Baton Rouge location because I was told they had brisket tacos at the BR location and I am a sucker for brisket tacos!!! See my first 4 words of this review!!! I was underwhelmed by the brisket tacos in comparison to the ones that have made me fall in love from Cantina Laredo in Shreveport, LA and Mia's in Dallas, TX!!! So if you stop in go with the Crazy Javier...from what I know it is the signature steak dish for Superior and I have never had a bad one!!! The hot sauce/salsa was outstanding as I expected and the word has always been the margaritas are KICK ASS!!! I don't know cause I am a cerveza man myself when dining at Superior which leads me to another downer on the Baton Rouge location...They had NO Sol or Pacifico!!!! I was floored..this is freakin' Baton Rouge, the state capital!!! They can't let the Shreveport, LA location have a better cerveza selection can they? Why yes, yes they can!!! I am in no way down on this place and will eat there again but it's the little things that could have made my initial visit better...

    This is really just sub-par Tex-Mex. nothing incredibly flavorful or memorable. Service was adequate but not outstanding. We were here for lunch on a rainy day. Many empty tables with seemingly an appropriate number of servers. Perhaps an off day? My margarita was pretty good. I think I'll look elsewhere the next time I'm in the mood for Tex-Mex. There must be something better.

    Baton Rouge, which always offered numerous good eating options, has lately seen a growth in the number of choices for the discriminating diners. But not so much with Mexican food. One can visit almost any town these days and find authentic Mex, various Latin fusion style, real "street food", etc. but it's still pretty much TexMex here. Superior takes a couple of small steps away from that, and generally prepares the foods well. Prices are reasonable and service is good, sometimes excellent. The bar is what puts this place over the top with a lot of people . . if you're going to have more than a house frozen margarita, this is your spot for sure.

    Superior Grill has been rated consistently as one of Louisiana's best Mexican restaurants since 1983 when they first opened in Shreveport, LA. The Baton Rouge location opened in 1991 and has become a landmark in fine Tex-Mex Food with a festive atmosphere. They are famous for "sizzling fajitas" and "Superior margaritas". The Margaritas are made with freshly squeezed lime juice, and made fresh, Daily. The favorite dish we sampled on this trip was the Shrimp Brochette. Jumbo Shrimp, butterflied then stuffed with poblano pepper, then wrapped in bacon and grilled over a mesquite fire grill. Served with Tortillas, a butter dipping sauce and charro beans soup. This dish is a must for any shrimp lover. The shrimp were cook perfectly and they somehow managed to get the bacon nice and crispy! poblano on the inside added a vary nice flavor and kick to the dish! Charro Bean soup is also some of the best I have tasted. Nice and thick with chunks of pork and flavorful beans! and of course the Margaritas were beautiful & tasty as always! Superior Grill is Most likely the Leader in Tex-Mex cuisine in Baton Rouge. They know what they are doing and they do it right! Get there early on Thurs-Saturday nights as they fill up fast!! Live music can be heard on the patio on the weekends. A great fiesta to be sure!!!!

    I can't say enough good things about Superior Grill. Portions are gigantic, the salsa is fantastic, and the service is snappy. It would be great if they offered smaller, cheaper portions, but leftovers from Superior Grill never go uneaten in my house. I haven't had a margarita from Superior yet, but I plan to as soon as possible! If they are anything like the rest of the menu, they will not disappoint.

    Three stars because the food is average to below average but the margaritas are great. Get there between 4:30 and 6:30 everyday and it is two for one. Live music on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. Be careful when you leave this place you will smell like onions.

    Superior Grill has been around FOREVER for a reason. The prices are reasonable, the portions are large, & the food is delicious. The service isn't always great - sometimes pretty slow even when the restaurant isn't busy, but I've never had what I would qualify as an awful experience because of it. Overall a really good place to have some good Mexican food. Try the fajitas! [Edit 2013: Still a fun place, but I think the prices may have gone up a bit. Also, fair warning: the margaritas are dangerous and delicious.]

    One Sunday my friend and I decided to hit this little place up to try the Breakfast Specials which runs Sat & Sun 7am -2pm. $2 Mimosas were going to be the rule of the day! That was until the fine print on the menu stated on Sundays they didn't serve mimosas until 11am on Sundays. That sucked, as the lunch menu is in effect at 11, which voids the item being part of the breakfast specials. We were there for 9:30. The fruit juices were watered-down. The food was satisfactory and the service was very attentive. Maybe they'll loosen up and allow me my libation earlier on Sundays in the future.

    My 3rd time to go. Not the most authentic Mexican food in the world, but it's good food at a reasonable price and the portions are huge! Went on a game day so there was pretty much standing room only. Sat in the bar area. Live band in the next room making conversation near impossible. Staff was helpful and friendly.

    Holy Frijoles. This joint is the best Mexican ever. Pricey but darn good. We had the steak fajitas. They contained ACTUAL marinated tender steak. That is very hard to come by in mexican joints. The TL got something that consisted of bacon wrapped poblano stuffed huge shrimp. Wow. I stole two out of 6 and I must recreate this dish. He was pretty mad but when I made his a steak/shrimp fajita wrap he calmed himself. I was a bit surprized when the bill came and I found out the large margarita was $11.50 and was about 16 oz. (I think) they were sooooo good tho. I would say just go here when you want expensive Mexican and go somewhere cheaper if you just need a fixx. Super Super Duper enjoyed lunch. The patio is the bees knees.

    Generally the food is okay here, but you're trying to get Mexican in Baton Rouge and that is impossible for some reason... this place is okay, not great. The issue I have with this place is like many other places - the chips are AWFUL. They are pre-made somewhere else, brought in and flash fried... and they are the worse chips I've experienced in my life, bar none. Bad chips from a bag at the grocery store would be better. And it seems that several restaurants use this same supplier. Listen up management - why not differentiate yourself from these other restaurants. And if it is too expensive to do your own chips inhouse, just order bags from El Fenix or original Ninfa's or Mi Cocina - there are companies in Dallas and Houston that would I am sure: 1) make you better chips, and 2) save you money, or at least not increase cost. The reason chips are important is that they set up the entire experience - good chips, good sales, everything goes right... when they are bad, as they are here, I never ever return.

    Made it here with some co-workers after work. It's a decent Mexican restaurant. They had bottles of several types of Mexican beers...the first one I had was one I hadn't heard of before, and my second was a Modelo dark (both with huge chunks of lime)---muy bueno! As for the eats...I'm a bit lame, but the thing which caught my eye over everything...a "Mexican sandwich". Not many Mexican restaurants offer this option---you have to go to one of your finer Taco Trucks to get one. What am I talking about, you gringos??? A torta, of course! Yeah, when the server came to me I said I wanted a beef torta, and he was, "huh?". Then he caught himself, "oh, a Mexican Sandwich". Yes, my son. :) This torta was very rich (maybe a little too rich, but in a good way). It was decent and HUGE. I ended up only eating half and saving the rest for lunch the next day. Mexican Sandwich....Mmmmm.

    I've been to Superior Grill probably about 8-10 times now and I'm glad I waited to review it, because my first experience wasn't very good but every time after that I had a great experience! The first time I went, I went kind of late and the place was pretty empty. I think it was a Monday or Tuesday night. The service was super slow, my food came out cold, and we waited forever for the check. Every experience of mine since then has been great though! I've had take-out from here for lunch numerous times and the food travels very well. I think they even give you bigger portions when you get it to go. My favorite is the fish tacos. They're grilled, not fried! The rice is also really tasty, and I love the spicy white cream sauce that comes with the fish tacos. The margaritas are decent and the queso is delicious!

    This was pretty plain Mexican food. Not much flavor. I would definitely never come back here. The tortillas were not homemade which I hate when I go to restaurants. Even Taco Cabana has fresh tortillas. I'm from Houston where we have great Mexican food so maybe I'm expecting too much but I was underwhelmed.

    This is not Mexican food at all. But, I'm pretty happy to go here when visiting Baton Rouge. Great atmosphere. Nice people. It reminds me of those BBQ joints or mesquite grill places in Texas that offer some kind of Tex-Mex.

    It may not be saying much, but it is the best Mexican Baton Rouge has to offer. Prices are a little bit more expensive than other Mexican restaurants in BR...but the portions are also slightly bigger. Atmosphere is fun especially back when Nick Saban (gasp) used to do his radio show here on Wednesdays...and drinks are strong. For overall package for Mexican, Superior's the best in BR.

    In summary, Superior Grill is quite superior. This is some of the best Mexican food in Baton Rouge, and the atmosphere is great. The service is of high quality and not difficult to find. I've been coming here for quite a while, and I've rarely had any instances of bad service and/or bad food. If you enjoy Mexican food, then Superior is worth trying.

    I think some of you fellow yelpers are being a bit harsh when it comes to Superior. Yes, it may not live up to its name, but it is my first choice for mexi in BR bc of the "overall" category..... meaning: decent mexican, huge frozen margs (you can take them with you), and a fun atmosphere... YES, there may be a better tex-mex restaurant in BR, but where it lacks, Superior delivers. and YES, on fridays it may be a breeding ground for frat stars that are just tryin to get drunk enough before making their way to bogies(as is serranos)... but hey, its BR (a college town)... what do you expect? Cant go wrong with the fajitas... def not an INferior choice....

    I've had better Mexican food in other towns, but for Baton Rouge, this is the best place for consistency in quality. The margaritas are very good. A great happy hour (if you can find a place to sit or stand). If you come for the live music on the patio, make sure you get a table WAY ahead of time or you'll be standing the whole time.

    I was met with shock and surprise when I announced that after 2 years in BR that I had never been to Superior Grill. I had heard the buzz around town so when a job interview in the neighborhood went into lunch and everyone insisted that I simply MUST try it...away we went. This place is HUGE. Not a good sign in my book but most Mexican is not all that complicated so I wasn't too worried. The chips and salsa were yummy and at our tiny table for four we each had our own basket and salsa...which pretty much left little room for any beverages. We had to ask them to take our waters backs so we could chip and dip without balancing things on our knees. I ordered tacos because I panic ordered and they were you know, tacos. Pretty good but not worthy of the praise lauded on this joint by everyone. Everyone else got this massive steak fajita thing that again...took up more table than table but seemed to look pretty good. I will write another review once I return and have these margaritas everyone goes on about. I can always be swayed by tequila so check back for more star wattage post booze. At this point though, eh..it was pretty good but I'd still rather go to Bistro Byronz across the street or even Fleur de Lis...bearing in mind of course that both of those places have had the good fortune to get me nicely drunk so I'll give Superior the same shake they got and get back to you.

    I'd really love to give this palce 5 stars as it is the Mexican food in baton Rouge, but unfortunately that is just because BR's mexican food choices kind of suck. Anywho, it is very good, the drinks are good. happy hour is crazy. It can be a good value (platters) or poor value (the relatively expensive fajitas) depending on what you order.

    I loved it, but it wasn't perfect! Meal-wise, we ordered a few things. I got the three taco plate (two steak brisket and one pork taco), Elizabeth got the one beef taco/one chicken enchilada/one cheese enchilada combo, her sister Juli got the tortilla soup and her boy-toy Steven got the chicken fajita plate. I can't comment on Juli and Steven's food, though they seemed happy with their grub. I tasted Elizabeth's dish and thought the beef taco (hard) was pretty decent, the chicken enchilada was real good and the cheese enchilada was great. My tacos?     I gave Superior another try after many years. The margarita on the rocks is pre-mixed and poured out of a container. It was too sweet and overall lacked any flavor.... I did not enjoy it. The bartender started pouring it into a styrofoam cup. Why would I go out to eat and drink out of styrofoam? (By the way, this is at 3PM on a Saturday, not the raging Thursday nights I hear about.) At first, I requested a top-shelf margarita and they told me it was $14.50 and they use... Cuervo. No, thank you. The prices across the board at this mediocre restaurant are ridiculous. The salsa was bland and boring, the chips are not fresh they seem out of a bag. The only thing that was good was the quesadillas. It's really unfortunate because it's such a nice restaurant. There are so many small, easy changes they could make to make it memorable. Having good margaritas, chips, and salsa would be a start. We really wanted to like it, but I won't be back.

    not the worst mexican in baton rouge, but nowhere near good. my wife describes superior grill as "beige": nothing to get excited about, not much to taste. service was decent, so i can't really say anything bad about the place, i just can't say anything good about it, either. i've eaten there once, and will likely never again.

    the food is excellent, the service is good, but the food is overpriced for what it is. in my opinion, several other mexican restaurants in the area offer similar food at a fraction of the cost. the best part of superior is the atmosphere which is hard to beat on a game night or thursday evening. watch out for the cougars though... go during happy hour!

    Superior Grill did have my favorite breakfast/brunch..... Until this Sunday when I arrived at 11:00 with 6 other friends and was told "we are not serving breakfast anymore". Since we were specifically looking for breakfast we had checked the breakfast hours before we arrived (until 2:00 on Sundays). When I told the waiter about their breakfast hours he replied that the kitchen had too many breakfast orders so we could only order lunch!!!! If we hadn't already ordered drinks we would have left. If I had wanted Mexican food, I would have went somewhere else. We wanted breakfast! You can't just decide on the fly that you aren't going to serve what your website and menu clearly states you are serving. It was highly disappointing.

    Great lunch menu (Crazy Javier steak is phenomenal, as is the burger), and excellent drinks. The weekend brunch is surprisingly good as well. I find that it's far better to dine-in than takeout. Expect a big crowd on Thursday or Friday nights.

    my favorite mexican restaurant in b.r. well, ninfa's is a close second, but this place is amazing. everything's good...i'm partial to the nachos and the crispy tacos. the only hang-up is that you will probably have to wait if you go during peak hours--especially on the weekend. just be prepared, but it's worth the wait.

    Great atmosphere, excellent service, but food not worth the price (for the more expensive dishes, anyways). Frozen margaritas are really good. $97 (w tip) for an average meal gets 2 stars.

    Gross. I can't imagine how anyone who has actually eaten Mexican food before can enjoy this place. I realize that Baton Rouge's option in this genre of food is pretty slim, but good christ is this place terrible. I've only been twice and both times the food was awful. Tried the fajitas and enchiladas - the fajitas were Taco Bell meat quality, and the enchiladas were equally mediocre.

    What a great, fun, friendly place! Chris is the manager and he is a really nice guy. He also develops some foods to offer and he tells my brother and I about them when we come in. The latest was red beans and rice. I asked for a sample and he went running back to the kitchen and brought us a small bowl; As they say in south Louisiana, " talk about good!". He also has his own special salad. When you go, ask for Chris and ask for "his" salad. I also had their "Baja Fish Taco" to prep myself for a trip to Cozumel. Superior's was better than any fish taco's I could find on Cozumel island.

    Some of the strongest Margaritas in all of Baton Rouge. Many a drunken nights started out at Superior!! In nice weather, the porch is packed for happy hour but you can always find a friend to share a table or spare a chair. Food is always good and speedy. Make sure you make reservations if you have a large crowd coming. But I promise you won't be disappointed if you need a Mexican fix.

    Superior Grill is just that. As I've said in previous reviews, I'm not the biggest fan of Mexican food. However, if I'm going to go somewhere, it will probably be Superior Grill. I've never had a bad meal there and I always have enough leftover for lunch the next day. They have a large menu selection, with most items under $15. They also have melt-in-your-mouth flan! Another good thing about Superior Grill is the atmosphere. If you want to have drinks and party, Superior Grill is definitely your place. They have a screened in porch area with its own little bar and different bands. Superior is crowded most of the time anyway, but the porch turns into standing (or dancing!) room only pretty quickly when there's a band. The wonderful margaritas make the experience that much better, though there are ALWAYS cops nearby waiting to pull people over, so be careful about how much you have to drink! All in all, a fun and tasty place!

    This has been my favorite Mexican food in Baton Rouge for quite some time. The other reviews describe it quite well, in fact. The service and food are always solid. If I were to dig for a complaint, I'd point out that the smoking area is not sufficiently segregated from the remainder of the restaurant. That's it.

    First and foremost let me say that I am not a huge fan of Mexican food. However, I do go to Superior Grill often. Superior grill is a nice little Americanized ish Mexican restaurant in the lical Baton Rouge that is popular for its food, drinks and local performances. The ambience is very friendly and to be honest the service is superb. The servers are (so far) very nice and very accomadating. The complimentary chips and salsa here are some of my favorite in town! Be careful though its really easy to fill up on these without even getting an appetizer. Speaking of appetizers the ceviche here is one of the best that I have had. This ceviche consists of some fish light onion and tomatoe mix with lime. The chip that comes on the outside is like a nice flaky crunchy thick chip that goes great with the ceviche. I usually get the fajitas here and the quality is quite good with nice steak, shrimp, chicken and lots of other condiments to go with your fajitas. Sour cream, Guacamole, Onions and Bell peppers all go very well with the fajitas. The only drawback about Superior Grill in my opinion is that it is a bit pricey. However, the food is still great and you should definitely give it a try if you haven't yet! Great food and great service! PEACE

    Great service from the wait staff. Our server, whose name was also Regina was excellent. Sweet personality and on point with customer service. Glasses refilled and always came back to check and see how the table was doing. The restaurant had a nice décor that seemed inviting. The food was ok, not a lot of meat on the brisket taco, but what I did have was flavorful , I just wish that I had more of it. The refried beans and rice that came with the meal was good. The bill was high compared to other places, but that's the cost of business.

    I am so disappointed in today's lunch fajitas at Superior Grill. The last time I was here the fajitas were flavorful, sizzling and delicious. Not so today. I had lunch with beloved Mother in Law and her assessment was dead on. She said "It's OK, but it isn't any better than a frozen Mexican TV dinner I could microwave at home for 1/3 of the price." Sadly she was right, My lunch fajitas were 11.95 and basically cooked in one huge batch and put into bins with one guy standing there putting steam-table quality fajitas on the plate with wilted onions and exactly TWO bell pepper rings. You also get 1 Tablespoon each of guacamole, sour cream and pico and 3 tortillas. and rice and beans. The meat had absolutely no flavor and oddly enough neither did the onions or the peppers. I was so disappointed because it was SO very good the last time I was there. Laura was our server and was very sweet and iced tea refills were prompt. However, it was WAY not worth it in terms of taste, quality or portion size. It was half the size, 30% higher priced and no where near the flavor or quality of my last visit. This explains why it was half-empty at 12:15 at the height of lunch hour. Not worth it at half the price and WAY WAY not worth it at what we paid today. We could have had better food at a Taco Bell for 1/3 the price and twice the food and flavor. I am heartbroken remembering how good it used to be.

    Superior Grill is one of the areas fancier Mexican restaurants. Bring your appetite and bring your wallet. The prices are substantially higher here for entrees. The fajita dinner here is pretty good. This place is usually always packed and is a popular go-to spot for the college crowds. It can get pretty busy in here resulting in slightly longer wait times for the food to come out. Overall the experience which is Superior Grill doesn't look like it will dwindle down its magic factor anytime soon. Like I said this place stays pretty packed.

    The service was good but the food... by far one of the WORST mexican ever. Who calls brisket, fajita meat? These people apparently. Coming from Houston I have had my fair share of mexican food but to serve me that.. just ugh. The bar seems to be what the real attraction is anyway. Dont come here expecting to love if you have had any decent mexican food before. I can see liking if its all you know but if it is. Im sorry but for your own experience get out more.

    I really liked the spinach quesadillas appetizer. The margaritas were pretty good but I wouldn't recommend paying extra for the top shelf tequila. I'm from Houston where there is lots of great Mexican restaurants. This is the best Mexican restaurant I've tried in Baton Rouge. Somewhat hesitant to try other Mexican restaurants here though since I have such high expectations. I really loved the atmosphere too.

    "Tex-mex cuisine, margaritas and live music". This place was packed on a Friday night! Although we had a large group on an extremely busy Friday night, the staff still did pretty well with our table - taking orders and bringing food/drinks in a timely manner. I was super excited to finally get to eat here because I read and heard a lot about it! We arrived before the mass crowd attacked the place, so we were able to secure a pretty sweet spot in the restaurant. As soon as we were seated, they graced our table with some chips and salsa. Before we knew it, the margaritas were coming out fast and strong... large size was price of a small during their happy hour. We ordered a sampler platter of appetizers for the group and I gotta say... everything was quite cheesy! Since I love cheese, it was not a problem for me. The nachos and the quesadillas were delicious. Unfortunately, my order of guacamole never made it to the table, but no big deal... we were all pretty full. After dinner, it was time to paaaartaaaaay with the live band that rocked the stage! I love this restaurant because it brought out many different people and everyone was there to have a great time! My daughter was able to view the chef in the back cooking up a storm, so she was very intrigued by that! If you have little ones that are fascinated with the kitchen, they will love this place!     Best. no, THE Best....Mexican Restaurant in Baton Rouge. The first thing I ever had there was the tortilla soup. It was the freshest soup (yes, soup in general) I've ever had. Since then, my go-to are the brisket tacos Our very first server was Jimmy, and I remember his name because we was absolutely fantastic. Superior definitely deserves its 5-star rating.. and more.

    I live in California, so I had to try a Mexican restaurant while here in the south. I ordered the lunch fajitas (chicken) with rice & beans. The portion was great but there were no bell peppers. Chicken and onions with rice and beans shaking my head! Service was fast and on point as I expected, but the entree sucked! I will stick with my restaurants in California. Overall not bad but not me. Would I return for future business? No.

    So disappointed, my wife ordered the mesquite fajitas and the flavor, instead of grilled meat over mesquite charcoal, just tasted like meat tenderizer. The meat was either, skirt or flank steak was easy to cut, however, the taste was so bad she could not eat it. Horrible, we would prefer the meat to be tough, than taste that way. Not inclined to return, ever.

    We went in a dead time - inbetween lunch and dinner. Food came out very fast, server forgot our order of guacamole. Server also forgot place settings. Server was fast getting food, and a late drink order, as well as the bill. Food was alright. Overpriced for what you get in my opinion. Might go back, might not. I'll probably try other Mexican options in BR.

    This place is amazing!! By far the most popular restaurant in Baton Rouge on Sunday afternoons. The food is fresh and flavorful, and the servers are so friendly and accommodating. I like that there's something for everyone to enjoy on the menu, and I like the ambiance. You feel so welcomed upon arrival as well. I went for a private event and enjoyed a delicious buffet with Mexican breakfast and lunch offerings. The frozen mimosas were so amazing that my grandmother asked for a to-go cup full of it. Speaking of cups, big props for the styrofoam to-go cups. No one likes a sweaty, condensation-ladden cup in the summer. Overall, if I lived in the area, I'd be here at least twice a week. Excellent experience!

    Sooo went there for my friends birthday. Love the covered patio seating and the bar. Drinks are great- margaritas to be specific. They are strong so it's worth 13$. Sangria margarita is my favorite. We had a big group and I pretty much finished my large margarita before I even got my guacamole... Which wasn't all too great. Service I think is was disappointed me most. And the food isn't worth bad service. I would go back for a second chance but with a smaller group to see if that works out.

    As always the food is outstanding Showing up late with a group of 12 they were very accommodating maybe the best thing ever was Miguel our server He took everyone's order without writing it down and upon service got everyone's order perfect The thing I think I personally enjoy about a dining experience is the service as food early WOWS me but on a night like this Superior Grill knocked it out the park Food and service were most outstanding

    This is one of my favorite Mexican restaurants in town. The margaritas are hands down the best in town. Today we each had two large! It was hot out and we were thirsty!! Of course the most affordable way to have them are at Happy Hour where they are 2-for-1 (every day from 4:30pm - 6:30pm.) ;) During this visit, I had the shrimp and fish ceviche off of their brunch menu. I arrived at the table in a crispy taco salad shell topped with avocado slices. The fish were very fresh and tasty not to mention a nice portion for $10.95. I do find their prices run high but you will never be disappointed in flavor, portion, nor service.

    Superior Grill is my go-to place when I feel like waiting around with the crowd prior to being seated, yelling at my friends over the loud music, playing 'drums' on the table with my silverware while I wait for my server to return from whatever distant place she's ventured off too, and eat mediocre Tex-Mex food. Although, I do enjoy the people watching -- especially the singles scene at the bar because it reminds me how much dating s*cks. I will say that the Chicken Blue Corn Stack Enchiladas are delish!

    Food is ok, but over priced. I sat at the bar. The big bar tender might be the slowest person I've ever met in my life. If you go during lunch, don't sit at the bar. He will waste most of your time. Terrible service.

    There's a reason Superior Grill is a fave in BR; the food is phenomenal and service is excellent too...not to mention their famous margaritas ;) I wanted to try everything on the menu but opted to try something new. I ordered the Mesquite chicken salad and my husband the taco salad. Both around $10.95 on the lunch menu, but truly we could have split one because portion size was huge. My 5 y/o wanted soup, so I got her the chicken tortilla soup. It came with soft tacos, which I typically prefer crunchy in the soup but she didn't complain. It was also loaded with veggies including huge chunks of avocado, which she did complain about but still sipped up the delicious broth while I gobbled up the delicious chunks of veggies :) I didn't get to try their brunch menu, so I'll be heading back for more hopefully soon ;)

    Great locals kinda place on Government in Baton Rouge. The chips and salsa are great. I had the blue corn stack and was pleased with the quality and quantity. The black bean soup was fantastic - some of the best that I have eaten recently. The place can get a bit packed, so plan accordingly. We had a short 10 minute wait for a table, but it was worth it.

    So. I find myself back here. Food is decent but service still stinks. Hunter is my waiter, and I am a bother to him. No chips and salsa cashed me out before I was ready. Claire helped me out. Thanks Claire. Hunter has no clue and needs to return to campus an deliver pizzas. The only thing you're superior at is sucking. Go down the street to La Carrettas

    I have to say this place isn't always on the top of my list due to parking and the distance from my house, but the brisket nachos are one of my favorite dishes in Baton Rouge. You can get brisket on just about anything here and I would recommend it to anyone and everyone. The top shelf margaritas are out of this world...and so will you be after drinking a couple. Thursday night is their big night and they usually have a band on the patio. However, you can find a good crowd here pretty much all weekend. If you're there for lunch, sit at the bar and chat it up with Darren...he's a great bartender!

    This place has a fun atmosphere, the food however sucked. Ordered the superior chicken nachos and they were literally 10 chips with chicken and cheese on them and there was some guac and sour cream in the middle and it was around 13 dollars which was over a dollar per chip. That is crazy. Got the brisket tacos fit my entree they were also quite small portions and very plain. This place had bad mexican food and everything was overpriced. Wouldn't go back

    I'm originally from Texas and I'm very biased when it comes to Mexican food. With that said, I had the shrimp nachos and they were actually pretty good. The salsa is spicy! Nothing stood out or made this place special to me but I didn't have a bad experience. I went on a night with live music; the bad was the best thing there!
